Pete’s Bagels Opens Larger Grand Central Flagship in St. Pete

Pete’s Bagels has officially moved into a much bigger home in St. Pete’s Grand Central District, bringing more room for bagels, more room to actually sit down and eat them, and the return of a piece of Pete’s history that longtime fans may remember. The new flagship opened October 6th at 1900 1st Avenue South, taking over the former Good Intentions space just a few blocks from Pete’s longtime Grand Central shop.

Pete’s Bagels Just Got a Lot More Room

The move takes Pete’s from its longtime location to a significantly larger space only four blocks away! Somehow, the team managed to make the full transition in less than two days, opening the doors at the new location almost immediately. For anyone who has stood in one of those weekend Pete’s lines and then played the “where are we going to sit?” game, the extra space is probably the biggest upgrade of all.

The larger flagship gives Pete’s more room for both its kitchen and dining area, with enough space for the growing local brand to keep expanding. Pete’s has even teased the possibility of adding brunch service in the future, which could turn an already busy St. Pete breakfast spot into an entirely different weekend situation. Nothing has been officially announced yet, but we are absolutely keeping an eye on that one.

The move also comes with some bittersweet Grand Central history. Good Intentions previously occupied the building before closing, while Pete’s says its former location had structural damage and was becoming increasingly difficult to grow within. The team wanted a space capable of supporting the business for the next decade while giving Pete’s more room to become the community gathering place it has been working toward.

Pete’s General Store Is Making a Comeback

Here is the part longtime Pete’s fans may appreciate most: Pete’s General Store is returning. The concept dates back to Pete’s original Historic Uptown location, where the business first opened in 2019 as a neighborhood general store and bakery. The larger Grand Central space finally gives the team enough room to bring that side of Pete’s back alongside the bagels, coffee, pastries and sandwiches that helped turn the brand into a Tampa Bay favorite.

Pete’s has grown considerably since those early days. The locally owned business now has its Grand Central flagship, a South St. Pete drive-thru, locations in Ybor City and Tarpon Springs, plus sister concept Seymour’s in Downtown St. Pete. Its scratch-made bagels are rolled and boiled daily, baked each morning and delivered fresh from the company’s Gulfport production kitchen.

The new Pete’s Bagels flagship is open every day from 7:30am to 2pm at 1900 1st Avenue South in St. Petersburg. Bigger kitchen, more seats, the General Store coming back and the possibility of brunch hanging in the air? Pete’s apparently decided a simple four-block move was not enough. Now we just need to know how serious they are about that brunch idea.
