Tropicana Field roof repairs approved by City Council

Great news for St. Petersburg residents! The City Council has officially approved the much-needed Tropicana Field roof repairs, dedicating $22.5 million to the project. This decision marks a significant step towards ensuring the safety and longevity of this iconic stadium.

With the approval from the City Council, the construction for the Tropicana Field roof repairs can finally begin. This is a crucial development as the repairs were initially approved back in 2024. The repairs will also potentially allow the Rays to return to St. Pete for the 2026 Baseball season.

While specific dates have not been announced yet, the approval from the City Council paves the way for the construction to commence soon. Roof replacement is expected to be completed by December 2025. With that phase completed repairs will begin on the interior repairs and turf. If all goes well then by April 2026 we will have a repaired stadium and the Rays returning to St. Pete.

Overall, the approval of the Tropicana Field roof repairs is a positive development for St. Petersburg. It not only ensures the structural integrity of the stadium but also demonstrates the City Council's dedication to maintaining important community assets. Stay tuned for more updates as the construction progresses!
